Your most frequently asked questions, answered.

Are they sustainable?

Yes, our liners are much more sustainable alternative to most products on the market.

Our bamboo liners are made with Oeko-Tex certified organic bamboo, a self-generating plant that requires no irrigation, pesticides or fertilisers and requires much less water to grow than conventional cotton.

Unlike conventional products, which are made of up to 90% plastic and live on our planet for 800 years, we use plant-based and biodegradable materials wherever possible. Since a waterproof back sheet is essential for keeping you dry and leak-free, all pads and liners include one. We use a sustainable plant-based bioplastic called PLA, derived from sugar and cornstarch.

Are your pads and liners biodegradable?

Unlike conventional products, which are made of up to 90% plastic and live on our planet for 800 years, we use plant-based and biodegradable materials wherever possible.

  • Our topsheet is made entirely from organic bamboo and cornstarch
  • Our backsheet needs to be waterproof, to prevent leaks, so we use a sustainable plant-based bioplastic called PLA, derived from sugar and cornstarch. This is TUV-Austria certified home compostable. We also use this for the wrapper, so this will break down without a trace.
  • There is a small percentage of our moderate and heavy pads which, although not biodegradable, will break down naturally. This includes our non-toxic, plastic-free SAP core, which improves the absorbency of our pads, which is essential to support those with heavy menstrual flows.

Under ideal conditions, our pads degrade within 12 months, compared to the decades or even centuries it takes for petroleum plastic-based products to break down, and ours won’t produce microplastics like conventional products either.

We are actively working towards making period products entirely biodegradable as part of our investment in innovation and R&D investment commitment.

How absorbent are they?

Liners provide protection for light flow days, spotting in between periods, discharge or other leaks. They may not provide enough protection during your actual period so you may want to consider using tampons, pads, or a menstrual cup on heavier flow days.

How do you dispose of your liners?

After use, remove the liner, pads and wrap it in the packaging or tissue paper before disposing of it in a general or “sanitary” waste bin. Never flush period products down the toilet.

While our liners are made from biodegradable materials, factors such as temperature and moisture can affect their breakdown process. For this reason, we recommend disposing of our liners and wrappers in the general waste bin.

Under ideal conditions, our liners degrade within 12 months, compared to the decades or even centuries it takes for petroleum plastic-based products to break down, and ours won’t produce microplastics like conventional products either.

What are your liners made from?

Consciously crafted with Oeko-Tex organic bamboo and wrapped in a biodegradable plant starch wrapper. Free from chlorine, pesticides, artificial dyes or fragrances.

At Grace & Green, we are meticulous about sourcing materials and choosing our partners responsibly. Our bamboo pulp is FSC-certified, ensuring sustainable harvesting. Every component in our products is rigorously tested for harmful substances, and we use a closed-loop bamboo process in manufacturing to ensure no toxic chemicals go back into our environment. Our manufacturing holds OEKO-TEX STeP certification, guaranteeing safe materials and ethical, sustainable production practices.

Full Materials List:
Eco-Cert and Oeko-Tex certified organic bamboo, non-GMO cornstarch, FSC-certified wood pulp, PLA & PBAT (biodegradable bioplastics), cellulose BPI-compostable polymer, non-toxic adhesive.

When should I use liners?

Liners are thinner and smaller than a typical period pad, making them a great option for when you want to feel secure and keep your underwear protected. Perfect for a light flow, spotting in between periods, discharge or other leaks.
